The conference is planned for 16-20 September 2024
As a hybrid event, some events will be live streamed, many will be recorded for delayed viewing or online participation and some will only be held online.
Pre-conference events on Monday Sep 16th
All workshops, tutorials and co-located events will take place at Virginie Lovelinggebouw in Ghent (Belgium), adjacent to the main railway station.
This is a busy administrative building, with plenty of meeting rooms and an auditorium (200 seats). We have currently blocked all 11 meeting rooms in the building. Room sizes range from conference rooms for 20 or 30 to workshop rooms for 80 people.
Main conference on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday Sep 17-19th
The main conference will be held online and at the Bijloke in Ghent (Belgium), halfway between the historic city center and the train station.
This is a well-equipped and beautiful meeting venue & concert hall in the tranquil oasis of a former abbey and hospital. The medieval hospital with its unique wooden ceiling, the magnificent rooms of the old abbey and the 19th-century anatomical amphitheater create an inspiring conference location.
Professional visits on Friday Sep 20th (onsite only)
We want to offer participants the opportunity to visit a partner institution in Flanders, take a look behind the scenes, or deep-dive into matters specific to that organization. As a general rule, participants will be expected to travel at their own expense to the locations (typically, a one hour commute via public transport).
Social events (onsite only)
During the conference week, several social events will be organized, such as a welcome reception and a conference dinner. A moment to unwind and get to know each other…
As expected in a community dedicated to digital preservation, we’ll implement a strategy for all materials created for the conference to remain available for the community.
