We complete the assignment of session chairs on September 6.
Shortly thereafter, we will grant you access to Floq. You will receive an email invitation from us to register.
We strongly recommend to postpone your registration and onboarding until you have received this email invitation. That is to ensure that you log on with the correct email address (= the email address you used to register for iPRES 2024). If you use a different email address, we will not be able to verify and therefore we will not be able to grant you access.
To keep all sessions running smoothly, we designate 4 roles per session. Each role has his or her own responsibility:
The technical moderator starts and stops the broadcasting and handles any technical problems
The (remote) speaker gives his or her presentation, and answers questions that were qualified by the q&a moderator and passed on by the session chair
The q&a moderator encourages the remote audience to ask question no s and qualifies incoming questions
The session chair introduces the (remote) speaker and picks up on the questions that the q&a moderator has qualified (especially important for in-person presentations where the speaker does not have access to the dashboard); Mind you, in remote sessions, the session chair partly takes over the role of the technical moderator. He or she will start and stop the broadcasting, and will select and deselect the speaker.
Floq has 2 backstage dashboards: one for speakers, and one for moderators. Remote session chairs and technical moderators will use the moderator dashboard. Remote speakers, q&a moderators and in-person session chairs will use the speaker dashboard.
All remote sessions will be streamed in The Suite (one of the rooms in the conference venue in Ghent), a technician will be there to facilitate this ‘watch party’.
Follow these simple steps and get access to the technical dashboard in 2 minutes:
First, register and install Floq as an attendee. When you go through this short registration process, you will not only be granted access to the iPRES 2024 conference app for attendees, we will automatically grant you access to the technical dashboard. This is done based on the sessions and presentations we have linked you to as a session chair.
Next, go to https://conpass.floq.live

If your are chairing live in Ghent, you will be granted access to the speaker dashboard. Please follow the steps outlined on the page for Q&A moderators.
Although Floq works very similarly to Zoom or Teams, it is still advantageous to familiarize yourself - as a session chair - with the dashboard beforehand. We invite you to go through the previous steps well before the conference. On Friday 13/9 a drop-in rehearsal will be scheduled for in-person chairs at 2pm (CET) and 5pm (CET). On Monday 16/9 we schedule a mandatory session for remote speakers between 3pm and 6pm (CET).
There are a number of ways to get familiar with the technical dashboard.

Watch the 5 minute tutorial video;

Join the actual remote session 30 minutes before the start of the session to make sure everything is functioning as it should;
A/V equipment will be set up in room before the presentation. Microphone, projector, screen, and podium will be provided.
We will keep 2 seats free at the front of the room. We invite you to sit there, close to the stage, right next to the q&a moderator.
